Towards global citizenship education

WHAT IS THE POLICY ADVISORY BOARD?

The Policy Advisory Board (PAB) brings together global leaders — policy pros, youth voices, academics, and business thinkers — to make sure we stay sharp, globally relevant and politically sharp — but never partisan.

It’s pro-bono, high-impact, and built like a civic think tank… but more fun.

Why it matters?

Keep our games and service outcomes bias-free, accurate, and multilingual

Represent diverse political contexts and lived experiences

Connect us with mission-aligned orgs and funders

Help shape civic & political education at a global scale

DANIEL MACKISACK

POLITICAL INNOVATION

🇳🇿

🇩🇪 POLITICAL INNOVATION 🇳🇿

  • Daniel is a democratic systems and political innovation expert from New Zealand who has spent the last decade building and supporting collaborative global initiatives to address shared challenges and affect positive change at the intersection of politics and technology. From leading the development of transparency software for journalists and investigative researchers to gamefying, decision-making challenges as team-building workshops for NGOs and SMEs. From co-creating innovation and best practice briefings for political leaders to forging a global advocacy network around citizen participation in space policy.

With a career spanning international development, tech entrepreneurship, government advisory, policy advocacy, formal diplomacy, journalism and research, Daniel has enjoyed working across more than a dozen countries including Egypt, India, the United States and Australia. From 2010 to 2015 he was based in Cairo studying the shifting dynamics of social trust networks during the Arab Spring revolutions. From 2015-2018 he served as a policy and public affairs diplomat for the British Foreign Commonwealth Office. From 2018-2021, he lived...all over the place. And for the last few years, he has been based in Berlin, where his most recent roles have included serving as a Senior Advisor and Head of Product Development for the Innovation in Politics Institute, Editor and Product Developer for democracy-technologies.org and father of two.

A belligerent optimist and a democracy-loving sci-fi nerd to the core, Daniel believes deeply in our capacity to build better futures by imagining them in detail and then strategically working backwards towards them - always asking "What would that require?" step by step, until we arrive at the present, and then doing the first thing on the list.

Take it from them...

Take it from them...
